Mint Features EquiRize on RBI Policy Scenarios and Portfolio Allocation

EquiRize Securities has been featured in Mint for its perspective on how investors may approach portfolio allocation following the RBI’s monetary policy decision.
The Mint article examines two possible policy scenarios a 25-basis-point rate increase and an unchanged repo rate and discusses what each could mean for equity, debt and gold allocations.
Imran Khan, Director at EquiRize Securities, contributed his perspective on maintaining a measured, allocation-led approach instead of reacting immediately to a single monetary policy announcement.
A measured response to a rate increase
According to Khan, a rate increase could provide investors with an opportunity to gradually increase their exposure to high-quality debt. Equity allocation may remain intact, while investors become more selective about company leverage and valuations.
The emphasis remains on gradual portfolio adjustments rather than abrupt changes made immediately after the policy announcement.
Rebalance rather than react under a status quo
If the RBI maintains the existing policy rate, investors may largely remain invested and review whether their portfolio still reflects their intended asset allocation.
Khan highlighted that inflation, global bond yields, crude-oil prices and corporate earnings could have greater influence on medium-term investment outcomes than a single policy decision.
Portfolio decisions should remain goal-led
Interest-rate movements can affect borrowing costs, bond yields, debt-fund performance and equity valuations. However, allocation decisions should continue to reflect the investor’s objectives, time horizon, liquidity requirements and capacity to accept risk.
Monetary policy announcements may provide useful information for reviewing a portfolio, but they should not automatically trigger wholesale changes.
