Financial Express Features EquiRize on India’s First Tokenised Bond Issuance and the Future of Digital Debt Markets

Mumbai, India | September 8, 2026 – EquiRize Securities has been featured in a Financial Express report examining REC’s ₹500 crore tokenised bond issuance and its significance for the development of India’s digital debt-market infrastructure.
The article, titled “REC raises Rs 500 crore via tokenised bonds”, features insights from Mohit Gupta, Co-founder of EquiRize Securities, on the institutional pilot and its potential implications for future bond-market innovation.
REC Completes ₹500 Crore Tokenised Bond Issuance
According to Financial Express, REC raised ₹500 crore through what the publication described as India’s first tokenised bond issuance.
The bonds carry a 7.30% coupon and mature in approximately one year and nine months. The issuance had a base size of ₹100 crore and a greenshoe option of ₹400 crore. It reportedly attracted bids totalling ₹796 crore.
Demat 2.0 and Digital Settlement Infrastructure
The initiative brings together distributed-ledger technology, Demat 2.0 infrastructure and settlement supported through central bank digital currency.
Participation is currently limited to eligible entities equipped with the required CBDC wallets and Demat 2.0 infrastructure. The development should therefore be understood as an institutional pilot rather than a retail bond-investment facility.
A Credible Institutional Test for Tokenised Bonds
Commenting in the Financial Express article, Mohit Gupta, Co-founder of EquiRize Securities, described the pilot as “the industry’s first credible test of tokenised bonds.”
He noted that REC’s issuance represents a strong starting point for the model. While the pilot is currently institutional, its progress may help shape the future development of tokenised debt-market infrastructure.
